Game Show Poll of The Week!

Last week I asked you all to vote for your favorite 1990's Game Show. 22 of you readers voted and 9 of yous voted Match Game 1990-1991 the best of the '90's. Thank you for voting in this weeks Game Show Poll.

This week the poll will do with Deal or No Deal. It is a "Which do you Prefer Poll". Do you Prefer the NBC version of Deal or the Syndicated version of Deal? That is for you to decide. The results will be posted next week, so make sure you get your vote in.

As always thanks for reading and taking apart in The Game Show Blog.

"Password" DVD Release Date!

America's favorite word game is coming to DVD! Password hosted by the wonderful Allen Ludden aired on CBS from 1961-1967 and was remade in 1971 and lasted until 1975 on ABC. It featured celebrity guests and regular everyday people, trying to figure out a password that their partner was trying to communicate to them with one word clues.

BCI Entertainment (the people who have brought you DVD releases of Match Game, Family Feud, and The Price is Right) are now going to help fans relive this great series in a new DVD release. With episodes including guest stars Lucille Ball, Jimmy Stewart, Betty White, and Woody Allen, this DVD will take you through the best years of Password. The Suggested price for the DVD is $29.98 and will be release on December 2nd. This would be a great Christmas Gift for the Game Show fan in your family.

It is not known yet if this DVD package will include any episodes of the ABC version, but even if it doesn't, this will still be great to have since the original Password is not on GSN's regular Line-up anymore.

Game Show Poll of The Week!

Last week I asked you all to vote for your favorite 80's Game Show, and you really did. We saw the biggest participation in a poll since we started earlier this year. 31 people voted in the poll and 12 of yous voted The $25/$100,000 Pyramid the best Game Show of the 80's. Thank you for all of your votes.

This week, the poll is asking for your Favorite 90's Game Show. 4 choices as always. Let's beat the 31 from last week. The winner will be announced next Monday.

Poll can be found on the left side panel.

My Family's Got Guts Premieres Tonight!

Tonight, Nickelodeon will premiere its new version of the 90's Game Show Guts renamed My Family's Got Guts! The show was hosted in the 90's by actor and comedian Mike O' Malley and co-hosted by Moira Quirk and ran for 3 years on Nick from 1992-1995. The show went from a fun little show that allowed kids to do athletic challenges to a Global competition that made the hosts be more serious since the show was aired around the world. Many believe this is the reason why the show was canceled in 1995.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Nick wanted to revive the show and turn it into a Family Competition. It was announced to premiere with two new hosts. TV host Ben Lyons and a new judge with the name of Asha Kuerten. Both will have the tough task of replacing two very popular hosts in O'Malley and Quirk.

Nick has taped 10 episodes with 5 being shown all this week and 4 being shown next Monday through Thursday. The finale will be shown next Saturday.

My Family's Got Guts - Premieres tonight at 8:00pm on Nickelodeon.

Play it Back: 80's Game Shows!

This Sunday, GSN is playing it back again, this time going back to the 80's. GSN will air a marathon of 80's Game Shows that will include Card Sharks (Eubanks Run) from 1:00pm-3:00pm, Press Your Luck (Which will include the 2 episodes of Michael Larsen) will air from 3:00pm-5:00pm, and The New $25,000 Pyramid from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

Just like this past Sunday, GSN will air a special documentary of classic moments from 80's Game Shows called "Play it Back: 80's Game Shows". It will once again be hosted by comedian Caroline Rhea. And if it is like last nights, then it is very good.

So this weekend, Play it back decades with GSN and the 80's.

BTW, on the left side bar, you can vote for your favorite 80's Game Show. Last week we did 70's Game Shows, and Match Game won the poll.

Play it back: 80's Game Shows - premieres Sunday from 1:00pm-8:00pm.

GSN Live Expands on September 15th!

GSN's latest endeavor into interactivity has proven to be successful. GSN Live, the live interactive Morning show which premiere on February 25th of this year, has continued to grow in viewership. Because of this, GSN will expand Live to another 3 hours. Viewers on the east coast will see the show from 12:00pm-6:00pm, and west coast viewers will see the show from 9:00am-3:00pm.

Fred Roggin and Heidi Bohay will continue to host the show, but will be separated with different co-hosts. During the morning show, Heidi Bohay will be joined by Catch-21 host, Alfonso Riberio. During the last 3 hours, Fred Roggin will be joined by actress Kelly Packard.

GSN Live in the morning will continue to air the greatest game shows from back then including Card Sharks and Password Plus. GSN Live in the Afternoon will air shows that are gaining classic status including Lingo and Weakest Link.

Personally, GSN could have replaced Fred with a much better host. Alfonso is nothing but annoying and just someone who is trying to hard. GSN had a few other hosts on during Fred's departure to China for the Olympics. Let me go over them.

-Wink Martindale: The legend Wink Martindale was very good during his appearances on Live. He was fun and kept the show going without slowing it down to be goofy. He would have been a perfect fit for a show that is aimed for the older viewers.

-Bob Goen: Bob was also good. Of course anything Bob does, he is perfect. Of course there is one thing probably in his way. That would be GSN Radio. It would have been fun to have him, but he is too busy for the show.

-Bil Dwyer: Bil was great. He was fun and engaging to the callers and viewers. He only got to be on for 2 days, but he just looked like he was having a lot of fun. He would have been a great on this.

-Ty Treadway: Ty hosted the ill-fated Merv Griffin's Crosswords that was canceled after one season. He was not that great of a host on Crosswords, but he was great on Live. He and Heidi had great chemistry and it was very enjoyable to watch. He wouldn't be my first choice, but he sure would be a good fit for the show.

But I guess someone out there likes Alfonso. I will say this right now. It is a bad decision to hire Alfonso for this job. He is way to loud and annoying for most of your regular daytime viewers who are mostly older people. It will not work, and I would not be surprised if he is replaced before the end of 2008.

GSN Live - Expands to 6 hours on September 15th starting at 12:00pm ET/9:00am PT, Only on GSN.

Happy Labor Day!

I hope all of you readers have a great Labor Day Holiday. If you live in the Gulf Coast, I hope you have all made it out before Gustav hits, because I would hate to see another Katrina. The good news about Gustav is that it looks to be much weaker than Katrina was, but it can still cause a lot of damage.

By The Way, if you are doing nothing today, then tune in to two things. First the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Every year he does this to help raise money to find a cure for the MDA. There is a lot of good entertainers on the show from today and back then.

Also, GSN, The Game Show Network is airing a 10 hour marathon of everyone's favorite hard working Whammy on Press Your Luck. These episodes are from 1985 and feature some of the most exciting episodes of Press Your Luck's 3 year run. From 12:00pm-3:00pm during GSN Live, you will be seeing clips of some of the greatest moments from GSN Live. The show will be live again tomorrow and will be giving away their car for the month of August.

So enjoy your holiday everyone. I will see you all tomorrow.

Get ready for The All New "Millionaire"

If you like Millionaire of the old, then get ready because the show is getting a HUGE Makeover for Season 7. Here are the changes that are coming for Millionaire.

The big change will be a Time Limit. A time limit will be given to each level on the Millionaire tree. For the first 5 questions, contestants will have 15 seconds to give Meredith a Final Answer. For the 2nd tier of questions, contestants will have 30 seconds to give their FA. For question 11-14, contestants will be given 45 seconds to give a FA. And for the Million Dollar Question, the contestants will get the 45 seconds plus anytime not used in the first 14 questions.

Now to the lifelines. The 50:50 and Switch the Question have been disposed of. Michael Davies said "We quickly got rid of 50/50 as it was always the most unpopular lifeline on ‘Millionaire. Then we noted the ‘Switch the Question’ was not helping the contestants much. By replacing it with ‘Ask the Expert,’ we were able to create a truly effective lifeline that also looks very modern and different and cool.” They have been replaced with two new lifelines.

-Ask The Expert: This lifeline is a revival of the old "Three Wise Men" from the days of Super Millionaire. In this lifeline, contestants can ask for help from an expert. During the first week of shows, the expert will be Bill Nye "The Science Guy". During the second week the expert will be former Millionaire Contestant and $500,000 winner Ogi Ogas.

-Double Dip: This is another lifeline being brought over from Super Millionaire. In this lifeline, contestants will have 2 chances at answering the question. But if they decide to use it, they must answer the question. There is no walking away.

The graphics will also get a makeover. Included in this season is the "Millionaire Menu". This will show the contestants and home audience the subjects of each question. There are rumors that the music will also change, but nothing has been proved to be final.

So that will be the new Millionaire. Should be a very interesting season.

MILLIONAIRE - NEW SEASON PREMIERES ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH IN SYNDICATION. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LISTINGS.

GSN's Bingo America sees Major Facelift

As you can see from the picture, GSN has decided to replace former host of Bingo America Patrick Duffy with former Host of Family Feud (2002-2006), Richard Karn. It is not known why Duffy was replaced, but HollwoodJunket.com says that their were some "Rough Tapings" with Duffy. What that means, we have no clue. But the host is not the only thing changing. Here is what else will get a change.

An Audience game will be placed into the show. Audience members will now wear shirts with a number and letter corresponding to a Bingo ball. If their number is called, they become a team member with the contestant that got the ball. For each round, the winning team gets $25.00.

The Bonus Round has also been changed. The winning contestant now plays a Bingo Board, pick one letter at a time, and each letter has a different money amount. On the board is money, but their is also 20 "Wrecking Balls". If the contestant gets through the whole board without finding a wrecking ball, they win $100,000!. If they find one of those Balls though, they lose everything.

The only other change is Crystal Wallasch has been replaced by a woman named Diane.

The bonus round this season actually sound like fun. Last season's Bonus round was kind of ehh. Pick a number and we see what you win. Not that great. At least with this one, their is some risk.

As for Duffy, I am kind of glad he is gone. He just never seemed to "Get It". Karn is in no way my favorite Feud host, but this could actually be the show for him. We will see in October.

BINGO AMERICA - PREMIERES OCTOBER 6TH ON GSN

Jeopardy! 25th Anniversary Season!

Can you believe it? Jeopardy! with Alex Trebek has now been on the air for 25 years. It is amazing, and for the 25th season, they are going to celebrate with some special weeks.

During premiere week on September 8th, the show will invite back contestants who were on the first Kids Week from 1999. When they were on the show in 1999, they were 10-12 years old. Now they are 18-20 and in college. This special week will kick off the new season.

In January, they will become the first Game Show ever to tape from the floor of the of the world's largest consumer electronics trade show in Las Vegas. A new set will be built their with the latest in state of art technology, and will play host to the springs Tournament of Champions and Celebrity Jeopardy!

David Zinkin (1970-2008)

Some may not know who he is, but he was really a big name in Game Show Forums. David Zinkin (A fellow Game Show fan) started making his first posts on the ATGS boards. In 2002, he and many other game show fans recruited people to go to an EZ Board where there would be no trolls and no spam. After about a year they Matt Ottinger and Chris C. decided to move to their new home, The Invision Boards. Titled the Game Show Forum, Matt and Chris made David Zinkin a moderator to help keep an eye on the boards. And he did a damn good job at it.

Over the fast few months, David had not been posting as much. I for one was kind of wondering what had happened to him. And sadly he had been fighting a battle with Crohn's Disease, and sadly, soon developed Cancer. He passed away after a long fight with the disease at the age of 37.

Me and David butted heads several times last year. I was actually banned from the boards after I acted stupid. I asked David if I could rejoin the Invision Boards and he was willing to give me another chance. He always made the boards comfortable to post on, and he always made sure we knew what we were doing.

David, you will be missed. No doubt about it. You will be missed. :(

My "Game Show Center" is the new place to talk about Game Shows, GSN, watch Game Show Clips, and play your own Game Shows. I am trying to recruit many people from the GSN boards over to this new forum and I would not mind if any of you readers would join either. This board is for fun, but there are rules to follow. They will be enforced without question. This is to ensure that the boards are fun.

Catch-21 Review

Tonight was the premiere episode of GSN's Catch-21. Let me just say now that the show is lots of fun and a good way to spend a half-hour if you are not doing anything else. Now here are my thoughts on the show.

Right now host Alfonso Riberio is hosting this show as a plain Game Show Host. He is not doing a bad job at all, but he could do Much Better. Other than this, he is a fine host and could go a long way in the Game Show Biz.

The set is wonderful. It is about time a Game Show gets out of the Dark, gloomy sets, and into a set with color and lots of action. No complaints at all.

The Game Play is great. It's fast, fun, and engaging. At first I thought I would hate the whole "Passing" Option, but now I love it. This ensures that the game is not all about luck, but about strategy. Merrill Heater made a good decision with that. I think it would be cool if the contestant would be able to continue to play after freezing. It would be increase their chance of winning, and it would be pretty exciting to see.

My big complaint is the Bonus round. If you are an absolute unlucky person, you have no chance of winning the $25,000. But I really see no way of making this different. And looking around Game Show boards and other blogs, no one else knows either. So I guess they should keep it the same unless they think of some other way to make it a little easier.

So pretty much the Game is fun and engaging. It is not as great as shows like Lingo and Russian Roulette, but it is way better than some of the things GSN has come out with lately. I hope it does good for them, because they really need a hit Game Show.

Some Deal or No Deal News

Not much going on today, so why don't we look at Deal or No Deal. At the TCA Announcements, NBC announced that the show would be moved up in its premiere. On Monday, August 25th, the show will premiere with a one hour episode. The episode will be another one of their "Million Dollar Mission" episodes. If you don't know, this is when they add more Million Dollar cases to the board so it is easier for the contestants to win the Million. This time they will have 4 Million Dollar cases on the board. But of course, if the show can't give it away when there are 13 cases, there is no way in hell anyone will win with 4. Deal will then debut their Wednesday and Friday episodes sometime in October.

The Syndicated version of the show is almost here. The show is 48 days from premiering. If you don't know, the show will be hosted by Howie and have only 2 models. Those models will be Patrica (#9) and Tamieka (#21). The money will also go down from $1 Million to $500,000. And the best part of it, there will be no Family Members to help the contestants.

The show now has its own website. You can visit it here: http://www.dealornodealtv.com/. Not much to it yet, but you can get tickets to attend the show.

Deal Or No Deal (Primetime Version) - Premieres Monday, August 25th at 8:00pm on NBC

Deal Or No Deal (Syndicated Version) - Premieres Monday, September 8th in Syndication. Check your local listings

The Price is Right, Season 37 Changes. (And you were all worried)

After 16 days of guessing and all of the rumors on the web, we finally have answers to what is going to change on the 37th season of The Price is Right. And the main change is, the Wheel. Here are the changes.

-The first change is the set. They are bringing in the fantastic Million Dollar Spectacular set. The only difference will be it will not have the black floor.
-The Big Wheel has been slightly remodeled. The Wheel will have purple spaces instead of the Black spaces. However, Drew said that the Wheel would be like this for only this week. Next week, the wheel will be painted black once again.
-The side panels of the Wheel are now Purple instead of the traditional red. The sides will also have 2 huge silver $ signs.
-Staying with the Wheel, the show is also upping the bonus money on the wheel. Now when you land on the .5 and .15 spaces during your bonus spins, you will win $10,000. If you land on the $1.00 during that spin, you will win $25,000! It is not known yet if the first time landing on a dollar bonus has been upped.

And those are the major changes. Now of course things could change during this whole season and the whole "American Idol" redo of the show could happen. But for now Game Show fans, lets be happy for now that this is all the changes!

Special thanks to Golden-road.net member corbinq27 (who attended the show today)., for the info.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT SEASON 37 - PREMIERES SEPTEMBER 22nd AT 11:00PM ET ON CBS.

Catch-21 Premieres Tomorrow!

I just want to give everyone a heads-up that tomorrow will be the premiere of Catch-21 on GSN. The show is a revival of the classic Game Show Gambit that was hosted by Wink Martindale in the 70's (even though GSN says the game is based soley on their online game).

Here is a little sneak peak at the show with a little behind the scenes footage of the show.

CATCH-21 WITH ALFONSO RIBERIO - PREMIERES TOMORROW NIGHT AT 7:30PM
REPEATS AIR TUESDAY-SATURDAY AT 10:00PM AND SUNDAY NIGHTS AT 10:00 AND 10:30PM

Schedule Alert!

Just giving everyone a heads up that PBS will reair its Pioneers of Television special that looked at the world of TV. And I would highly suggest the one about Game Shows because it is really, Really good. It talks about the Radio days of Game Shows, to The Game Show Scandals of the 50's, then it goes into the 60's and 70's of Game Shows. It also takes about 2 minutes to focus on the Greatest Game Show Host of all time, Bill Cullen.

It is really good. Check it out tomorrow.

Pioneers of Television: Game Shows - Airs Tomorrow Night at 10:00pm on PBS

Game Show Clip of The Week!

For this week's Game Show Clip of The Week, we will take a look at Ray Comb's Version of Family Feud. This is the first part of the premiere episode of this version of Feud from 1988. This clip helps celebrate Comb's return to GSN starting on July 21st at 10:30am! Enjoy!

Thanks to Mtiller2006 for the clip.

Family Feud (Combs) - Returns July 21st at 10:30am on GSN

Game Show Moments Gone Bananas comes to DVD!

BCI, the people who have brought you DVD's including Match Game and The Price is Right, are coming out with a new DVD. This one will consist of the 5 episodes of the VH1 original Game Show Moments Gone Bananas. The show, hosted by Ben Stein looked at the crazy world of Game Shows and included clips from Games across the world, Classic B&W Game Shows and newer Game Shows clips like Distraction. The show also played different classic game shows with its audience.

The DVD will come out on September 23rd and the cost looks to be $14.98. So if you did not get these episodes on tape when they aired on VH1 and GSN, then this looks to be a good buy.

Wheel of Fortune Million Dollar Bonus Round for season 26!

The Game Show, Wheel of Fortune that has been in Syndication for 26 years is getting ready for a big season starting this fall. Wheel will now be giving its contestants a chance to play for $1 Million Dollars in the Bonus Round. Here is how a contestant can win it.

In the first 3 rounds, there will be a wedge on the Wheel with One Million being between two bankrupts. The contestant will first have to land on it, call a letter, and if the letter is in the puzzle, the million will be put in their bank. They will keep that Million for the whole game. The contestant cannot hit a bankrupt at all during the rest of the game. If they are lucky and win the game without hitting a bankrupt, A One Million Dollar slot will be added to the Bonus Round Wheel. The contestant will then have to land on it and solve the puzzle to win the One Million Dollars.

This is very tough, but it will be very exciting to see if someone does do this. I have a feeling it won't ever happen, but then again who knows? Wheel is now the second Syndicated Game Show on TV that is trying to give away $1 Million Dollars. No one has won a million in Syndication since Nancy Christie did in 2003 on Millionaire. Millionaire is the only Syndicated show to ever give away a Million Dollars.

Wheel of Fortune - Season 26 premieres on September 8th in Syndication. Check your local listings.

GSN Aquires Pyramid plus other schedule changes.

Some strange news from the GSN camp today. GSN has aquired the 2002-2004 version of the Game Show Pyramid. The show, hosted by Donny Osmond, was a revival of the old Dick Clark versions of the show.

I am kind of mixed on this news. Part of me is angry that it is not any version hosted by Dick Clark and the other part of me is happy that we have at least some kind of Pyramid. This show also had some good weeks including having legendary game show panelist Betty White and former host Dick Clark playing the game. Of course GSN could have gotten a horrible show like Card Sharks 2001. Things could be worse.

Price Producer is Fired!

I think everyone knows right now that longtime Price is Right Producer Roger Dobkowitz has been fired from Fremantle Media because the company wants to take Price in a new direction.

Right now, there are no known changes that have been announced. There has been a lot of speculating on the internet game show boards and blogs, but nothing has been proved to be true. The first taping of the new season begins on July 20th, and if any news breaks on what changes are being made, I will be sure to let everyone know.

Now my opinion on all of this mess. This weekend has been a weird one for Game Show fans. After 3 years of being apart of the Game Show community, I have never seen so much anger and sadness over anything. Roger was a beloved producer who many said was the nicest person around. We will all miss him on Price. But there comes a time when you can be sad, and a time when you can be an all around fanatic. The head of Golden-road.net, Marc has decided to take time off and take all of the G-R threads with him. He seems to me to be a complete cry-baby. He seems to find one little thing and decides to take his boards with him. A few months ago he did the same thing after someone from the google groups continually put him down. All I say is get over it, and take it like a man. But this guy decides to let this get to him, and he does this kind of crap. Grow up Marc.

But all we can do now, is cross our fingers and hope that Fremantle does not go overly crazy on these changes.

Catch A Game with GSN!

Today, GSN has premiered a new look and feel to the network. After about 2 months of debuting new logos and bringing back the whole "GSN: The Network for Games" look, GSN has finally found themselves a new look and slogan. The slogan is "Catch A Game". They have also redid all of their bumpers and promos to coincide with the new look. They have also promoted in one of their bumpers the new GSN Radio. Right now they say go to GSN.com/Radio to win. But for right now, no page exists.

The song that comes with the new look is very annoying, but if this is what GSN wants to do, then go ahead and do it. GSN really needed to find their niche, and here it is. Hopefully they can change up the song and look real soon, because that one song is annoying.

Drew gives Price crew Free Pizza!

This shows that Drew is one of the nicest people in the world. Tomorrow will be the last taping of Season 36 on The Price Is Right. So to celebrate, Drew is having 45 pizza's from his favorite Pizza Parlor in Ohio, deliver the Pizza for the whole staff of The Price Is Right. The total for the Pizza's is going to be $450, but that does not even include Shipping.

I say this is a great way to finish out the season that for a time last season, was looking very grim. Drew has came on board though, and has taken the show to a new level. Lets hope for an even better season 37!

GSN's Newlywed and Dating Game hosts announced

As I posted a few weeks ago on this, GSN is making new versions of the classic Game Shows The Newlywed Game and The Dating Game. Right now they have two hosts announced. The two hosts will be Kim Coles for The Dating Game and Judy Gold for The Newlywed Game. GSN's departing Senior Vice President, Jamie Roberts said "We want unusual canidates for these two shows" and that's what they have.

I don't really know much about Judy Gold, but I do know Kim Coles. Both could add some different flavor to both shows. Out of the two, I think Gold is going to have to work the hardest.

TBS' new version of Match Game

We finally have some more info on this new version of Match Game that Cable channel TBS is looking to do. Nothing about the rules have been revealed but 2 panelists and the host has finally been revealed.

Two of the six panelists on the show will be Comedians Sarah Silverman and Norm Mcdonald. Silverman can be annoying, but Norm is very funny and looking at his Celebrity Millionaire appearance in 2000, he is very smart. He went on to win $500,000 for his favorite charity, but could have won a million if host Regis Philban would have allowed him to go on.

Now the host. The host is a fomer Mad TV cast member named Andy Daly. He was on Mad TV from 2000-2002. To tell the truth, I have never heard of this man. And that is mostly because I have never once watched Mad TV. People on the game show site "The Game Show Forum" say that he is pretty funny. This could be good and it may not be good.

Celebrity Family Feud Premiere Next Week!

The long running game show, Family Feud is returning to primetime television with Celebrities joining it. The primetime version will be hosted by Today Show Weatherman and host Al Roker. Current host of the Syndicated version of Feud, John O'Hurley was too busy to host this version. The show will be set on the same set and mostly everything from the daytime version will be brought to nighttime. More on the small changes in a bit. But first, lets get to the celebs.

-Bill Engvall’s family VS Larry the Cable Guy’s family
-Vivica A. Fox’s family VS Mo’Nique’s family
-American Chopper family VS Christopher Knight’s family
-Corbin Bernsen’s family VS Margaret Cho’s family
-Ice T’s family VS the Rivers family
-Raven-Symone’s family VS Wayne Newton’s family
-The Kardashians VS Deion Sanders’s family
-Tiki Barber’s family VS Ed McMahon’s family
-The Hickeys VS The Camden County All-Stars, both from My Name is Earl
-The Office VS American Gladiators
-Vincent Pastore’s family VS The Girls Next Door
-Kathie Lee Gifford’s family VS Dog the Bounty Hunter’s family

To tell the truth, this is really not a big celebrity list. It is just the same D-list celebs that these new game shows can get. Why couldn't they get some of the Million Dollar Password Celebs play. I will mostly watch this to see how Roker does as Feud host.

Each Family will be competing in the Feud for $50,000 for their favorite Charity.

Now the changes. As I said before, the set will remain the same. Their are a few changes to make it look more primetimey (if that's even a word). The podiums where the familys stand is now black and the logo is much more shiny. The theme has also changed. NBC will revert back to the classic theme "The Feud" instead of the current theme "The Party Theme". Those are the only changes known right now. If more are revealed before premiere day, I will be sure to post them up.

Celebrity Family Feud - Premieres Tuesday, June 24th at 8:00pm.

Also for the new season, the show will be adding new theme weeks to spruce up the show. Included in these theme weeks will be the regular "Netflix Million Dollar Movie Week" and "Pay for a Wedding Week", but they will also do a week where they will have contestants with Celebrity names. If you or someone you know has a real good celebrity name, then you should try out for this week. The next theme week is Halloween week, where people will of course be dressed up and many of the questions will have to do with Halloween. Most likely, the best costumes will be who plays for that week. The final one will be 3 generations week. For the first time ever, three people will play Millionaire at the same time. They are looking for from 3 different generations. For example you could have a Grandfather, Father, and Son. Kids 12 and over can play during this week. GSN still in talks with World Poker Tour

This has nothing to do with game shows, but it does have something to do with GSN's future. The network is still in talks right now with the WPTE discussing the future of World Poker Tour. The network aquired the show under former president, Rich Cronin who was a huge poker fan. But he stepped down from his post last August. In that month, David Goldhill who was a former president of Universal Television Group. Ever since he came into office, everything and everyone from Cronin's era has departed. GSN's fourth highest rated show, Lingo was put on hiatus, Highstakes Poker was cancelled, and now WPT may be on the way out. Goldhill did comment on this saying "The World Poker Tour has been a great partner and the show continues to perform strongly on our network. We are continuing discussions with WPTE regarding how we may be able to work together – including perhaps broadcasting parts of Season VII.”

As a Poker hater, I am really happy about this. Now it is time for GSN to put focus back on the Game Shows. I just hope the WPTE looks for a new home instead of trying to negotiate with GSN.

GSN Schedule Overhaul

GSN is ready to change the schedule starting July 21st. This is when they will premiere a new Game Show called Catch-21. Right now this is a working title, which means the name could change before it airs. It is a revival of the classic Wink Martindale game show Gambit. This will be one of the shows to take a slot on the GSN Summertime Schedule.

Daytime
Many changes will come to the morning schedule. The first change will begin with Love Connection. It will be taken off of the schedule and be replaced with Tic Tac Dough. 9:30am continues to be Bill Cullen's Blockbusters. At 10:00am, GSN will insert Super Password which will leave the 12:00pm slot. At 10:30am, GSN will bring back Ray Comb's version of Family Feud. At 11:00am and 11:30am, GSN will continue to air Let's Make A Deal and Press Your Luck at their same times.

GSN Live
During GSN's GSN Live, there will be some changes made. At 12:00pm, Jeopardy will appear leaving its 2:00pm slot. At 12:30pm, Wheel of Fortune takes the slot. The 1-2:00pm slots continue to be Card Sharks and Match Game '76. 2:00pm sees the insertation of Family feud with Richard Dawson. Password Plus continues to air at 2:30pm.

Afternoons
At 3:30pm, GSN will replace Friend or Foe with Lingo. Friend or Foe has not performed well in the 3:30 slot. At 4:00pm, George Gray's version of Weakest Link takes a slot while Karn's Feud moves in at 4:30pm. Chain Reaction will then take a slot at 5:00pm.

Evenings
GSN will now air Catch-21 at 7:30pm. It will replace Lingo. It will also take the place of Chain Reaction at 11:00pm.

Everything else on the schedule remains the same. Take a look at it to see when your favorite show will air if it has been moved.

Don't Forget The Lyrics Marathon

If you are a fan of this Fox Karaoke Game Show, then you may want to tune into Fox Reality on Saturday. The reality network will air 13 episodes of DFTL on Saturday, June 7th from 9:00am-7:00pm. This will be Fox Reality's first time ever airing a Game Show.

Don't Forget The Lyrics, Hosted by Wayne Brady, is a Singing Game Show where one contestant has to fill in the blanks to popular hit songs. If they can successfully fill in the blanks to 10 songs, they win $1,000,000. No one to this date has been able to win the Million, but a few people have gone for The Million Dollar Song and lost. The show right now is on hiatus from Fox, but is set to return in the Fall with its second season. It will air on Fridays at 9:00pm after Fox's other big hit game show, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

GSN Reviving two classic Barris Shows!

GSN stated yesterday that they are remaking the two classic Chuck Barris Shows, The Newlywed Game and The Dating Game. This week they are looking for two hosts of the shows to host pilots. Departing Senior Vice President of GSN, Jamie Roberts stated "that trying to find unusual candidates to take these shows and reinvent them". He also stated "They're much-loved shows, and we thought the time was right for a revival, and We're pretty confident we'll get there and possibly put them to series for 2009."

For the Newlywed Game, GSN plans to add a showdown round where the winning young couple plays against an older couple who won a yesteryear "Newlywed" episode.

For The Dating Game, GSN plans to partner with an online dating site like eharmony.com to use a compatibility test that helps find worthwhile dates for the show's bachelors and bachelorettes. GSN also wants to have contestants be able to consult with best friends during the show about which date to select. Having occasional gay or lesbian contestants also has not been ruled out. The executive Producer for these two revivals will be EP for Millionaire, Michael Davies.

I plan on giving these a chance. I just hope Davies does not mess these two shows up like he messed Chain Reaction up. Once hosts have been named for the pilots, I will post them up. Should be interesting to see who they pick.
