A couple of GSN Schedule notes

First order of business is GSN's return to the Poker business. GSN is getting its Hit Poker Show, High Stakes Poker ready for air. It will begin to air on Sunday, March 1st. GSN will also continue to air a mixture of older seasons of the show along with World Poker Tour. I will get the time it will air as soon as it is released.

There is also a small change coming to GSN's daytime schedule. On February 9th, GSN will go back to episode 1 of Let's Make a Deal from 1971. This will replace The All New Let's Make a Deal on Weekdays at 11:00pm.

Fox pulls Hole In The Wall

Fox has decided to pull the Game Show Hole in The Wall after returning to the air on Sunday Nights this past Sunday. Ratings were horrible for the return episodes with the 7:00pm episode getting 3.39 million viewers and the 7:30pm airing getting 3.32 Million. There is no word on If the unaired episodes of Hole will ever air.

Replacing the show will be Game Show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? Reruns will occupy the Sunday at 7:00pm slot for at least 2 weeks.

Breaking News: Price Director has been Fired!

After 8 Years on the job, Director Bart Eskander has been fired from his role on The Price is Right. This has been confirmed by Marc Greene from Fan site Golden-Road.net. Bart was put on the job after longtime Director Paul Alter was fired from the show by Bob Barker in 2000.

A poster from G-R.net says that Drew Carey was the person to fire Bart from the job. It has not been confirmed by anyone that this was the case.

I wish Bart all the best in his future endeavors.

ABC looking to Revive Millionaire

An interesting bit of news coming from Mediaweek and ABC today. Mediaweek reports that ABC is looking to revive Who wants To Be A Millionaire this August to help celebrate the shows 10th Anniversary in America (Yes, 10 years). ABC is also looking to bring back Regis to do the show. And looking at what is going on with Million Dollar Password, Regis may come back.

I am hoping this all comes together. Super Millionaire did great in ratings in 2004 but ABC decided to go ahead with Desperate Housewives and pushed the Millionaire franchise aside. Now with the Movie Slumdog Millionaire doing well at both the box office and at the Golden Globe awards last night and the show celebrating its 10th year in August, it looks like this could all come together. We will keep you posted on this.

CATCH-21 - WEEKDAYS AT 7:30PM ON GSN

GSN's New Newlywed Game Casting Now!

If you and your New Spouse want to go on TV and show how much you know about eachother, Than GSN wants you to be on their New version of the Classic Game Show The Newlywed Game. The show will be taping 40 episodes in New York City sometime next month (FEB. 2009). For More info on how to be on the show, go here: http://www.embassyrow.com/.

Also, the show is looking for Goldyweds. If you were on the show during one of its runs from 1966-1999, GSN wants you. You and your spouse could go up against the "Newlyweds" and maybe win a Second Honeymoon.

The team making this is Embassy Row who have made such Game Shows as GSN's Chain Reaction and the CBS Primetime show The Power of Ten. There is no host for it yet, but I am really pulling for Bob Eubanks. No other host has been able to carry The Newlywed Game like Bob has. The show was revived in 1996 with Gary Kroger as host, but he was replaced with Eubanks after a short run on the show. But knowing Michael Davies past with revivals, he may get another 20-something to host the show (see Chain Reaction 2006). I hope this succeeds.

"Password" DVD Release Date!

America's favorite word game is coming to DVD! Password hosted by the wonderful Allen Ludden aired on CBS from 1961-1967 and was remade in 1971 and lasted until 1975 on ABC. It featured celebrity guests and regular everyday people, trying to figure out a password that their partner was trying to communicate to them with one word clues.

BCI Entertainment (the people who have brought you DVD releases of Match Game, Family Feud, and The Price is Right) are now going to help fans relive this great series in a new DVD release. With episodes including guest stars Lucille Ball, Jimmy Stewart, Betty White, and Woody Allen, this DVD will take you through the best years of Password. The Suggested price for the DVD is $29.98 and will be release on December 2nd. This would be a great Christmas Gift for the Game Show fan in your family.

It is not known yet if this DVD package will include any episodes of the ABC version, but even if it doesn't, this will still be great to have since the original Password is not on GSN's regular Line-up anymore.

My Family's Got Guts Premieres Tonight!

Tonight, Nickelodeon will premiere its new version of the 90's Game Show Guts renamed My Family's Got Guts! The show was hosted in the 90's by actor and comedian Mike O' Malley and co-hosted by Moira Quirk and ran for 3 years on Nick from 1992-1995. The show went from a fun little show that allowed kids to do athletic challenges to a Global competition that made the hosts be more serious since the show was aired around the world. Many believe this is the reason why the show was canceled in 1995.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Nick wanted to revive the show and turn it into a Family Competition. It was announced to premiere with two new hosts. TV host Ben Lyons and a new judge with the name of Asha Kuerten. Both will have the tough task of replacing two very popular hosts in O'Malley and Quirk.

Nick has taped 10 episodes with 5 being shown all this week and 4 being shown next Monday through Thursday. The finale will be shown next Saturday.

My Family's Got Guts - Premieres tonight at 8:00pm on Nickelodeon.
